The Labor Day weekend in Washington County will be filled with events.
During the Tuesday, August 29 Washington County Recreation Board meeting, Jamie Brindell reminded the Board of the events scheduled for Friday, September 1-Sunday, September 3.
“We’re trying to keep people in Sandersville,” said Brindell, adding that the events are also attractive for visitors to the community.
As reported by Waco100, the City of Sandersville, the Washington County Recreation Department, and the Washington County Chamber of Commerce are partnering for an event known as “Paint the Town.”
A glow in the dark disc golf tournament at the Depot Disc Golf Course on Linton Road will take place on Friday, September 1 beginning at 8 p.m. This is open to beginners and players familiar with disc golf.
On Saturday, September 2, the festivities continue with a Color Run to benefit the Washington County Empty Stocking Fund. The Color Run will begin at 8 a.m. at the Depot Disc Golf Course on Linton Road.
Saturday evening will feature “Art on the Square” with live art demonstrations, music, dancing, and food vendors from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Aaron’s Plus will provide a football viewing tent on the square in Sandersville where people can enjoy streaming football with friends. DJ Tony Taylor will play some of your favorite music while the Sandersville Line Dancers bring the dance moves to the square. Fall Line Rambler of Milledgeville will take the stage at 8 p.m. The public is invited to bring their lawn chairs and coolers (no glass) to enjoy an evening of art, food, music, and football.
Brindell went on to say that the Splash Pad will be the attraction on Sunday, September 3 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The ice cream truck will be at the Splash Pad on Sunday with cool treats for those in attendance. This is one of the last chances to enjoy the Splash Pad this summer before the facility closes for the season on Monday, September 4.
Brindell stated that plans are already underway for more fall events for the community!
