The North Avenue Station Splash Pad at Linton Park officially opened for the season on Monday, May 29 (Memorial Day).
“The splash pad is rockin’ and rollin’,” said Jamie Brindell of the Washington County Recreation Department when discussing participation.
Visitors to the Splash Pad will notice a new surface in the area of the water features. AquaSeal Play Solutions from Ohio installed the new surface in May.
According to Brindell, the new surface is a crushed rubber that is mixed with adhesive and applied to the concrete creating a safer surface for children when playing in the water features at the splash pad.
“Hopefully in the next year or two, we’ll be able to finish it out up to the fence as the budget permits,” said Brindell when discussing the rubberized surface.
In addition to the new surface, visitors will also notice music playing at the splash pad.
“I think we’re going to have a good year at the splash pad,” said Brindell.
Part-time attendants were hired to help at the splash pad; they are Haylee Brown and Blair Thompson. Jontavious Dunn will also assist when needed.
The Splash Pad is open Monday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Party rentals are also available at the Splash Pad. According to Brindell, party rentals can be scheduled for Monday – Saturday from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. as well as 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. On Sundays, the party rentals are available from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
The Splash Pad is located at 210 North Avenue in Sandersville.
