Several upcoming events were announced during the Tuesday, September 26 Washington County Recreation Board meeting.
Jamie Brindell of the Recreation Department began by announcing the Fall Treasures Yard Sale scheduled for Saturday, October 7 at the Washington County Recreation Department.
“Hopefully this will be a good event,” said Brindell, adding that several other places are having yard sales. “I’m looking at this as a good thing – people will be out and about, and hopefully they’ll stop at all events.”
This event begins at 8 a.m. and continues until noon.
When discussing other events planned, Brindell explained that the Splash Pad will be open on Kaolin Festival day, October 14, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“We hope to have a decent turnout that day,” said Brindell.
On Saturday, October 21, the “Kaolin Classic” disc golf tournament will take place at the Depot Disc Golf Course. This is a C-tier tournament.
“We’ve got people starting to sign up now,” explained Brindell, adding, “The City of Sandersville wanted to do a disc golf tournament in conjunction with Kaolin Festival so we chose the following weekend.”
Brindell also discussed a holiday event that will take place at the Depot Disc Golf Course. He stated that the original plan was to have a drive-in movie night near Halloween. When planning this event, they determined that event would need to take place on October 28 – the same day as the Georgia/Florida game.
“We didn’t want to conflict or possibly lose a bunch of people who were going out of town or attending football parties, so we decided to reschedule it,” said Brindell.
Plans are to celebrate the holiday season by showing Christmas movies on December 9.
“It sounds like some fun things coming up,” said Recreation Board Vice Chair Jennifer Wright.
